Early Spring is a Perfect Time To Visit Glacier National Park in Montana

Forest foliage - Glacier National ParkSpring is off to a beautiful start in the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park in 2015!

We have had ample amounts of sunshine, blue skies, pleasant temperatures in the 60’s and 70’s and that clear, fresh springtime atmosphere that makes northwest Montana such a beautiful and wonderful place to be this time of year!

While the Going-to-the-Sun Road is not open for visitor traffic yet, Glacier Park itself is open for business, (the park itself actually never closes for business), and there is an abundance of things to see and do inside the park right now, even if it’s famed attraction, the Going-to-the-Sun road is still not ready to open.

Many people love visiting the park this time of year, because without the GTTS road allowing through traffic yet, the number of visitors and automobiles inside the park is dramatically reduced. In fact, a very popular thing to do during this time of the year is to bring your bicycle up to the park, or set out on foot and go as far up the Going-to-the-Sun road as you can – either till you run out of personal stamina, or you reach a road work blockade that will not let you continue any further. As of the time of this writing, the road is open to foot and bicycle traffic approximately 11 miles up from the vehicle closure blockade which is set near the Avalanche campground and trail head along the western side of the park.

Walking or bicycling up the road can be a wonderfully fascinating experience. It allows you to breath in the beauty and majesty of the park in a way that driving up the road in a vehicle never would allow for. You get the opportunity to smell the sweet scent of the pine trees and the aspens… soak in the panoramic beauty of the mountains and valleys without needing to keep your eye on the road or the vehicle behind or in front of you… catch a handfull of snow-melt water as it cascades down the cliffsides… and witness some amazing wildlife along the way.

This is definitely an experience that you will remember for a lifetime!

However, if you try to find lodging inside the park right now you will be hard pressed to find anything available, because many of the in-park properties and lodges do not open for business and start taking reservations later in June. But there is good news! Glacier Peaks RV Park and Campground is open for business and taking reservations right now, and with a variety of RV spaces, campsites, Sleeper Cabins and conventional rental cabins available for you to choose from, Glacier Peaks RV Park is sure to have something to suite your needs.

Glacier Peaks RV Park will put you in the ideal location, just moments away from Glacier National Parks western gateway entrance, in the town of Columbia Falls, where you will have easy access to stores, restaurants, shopping, entertainment and more. Plus you will be only minutes from Whitefish, Montana and the Whitefish Mountain Ski and Summer Resort in the other direction, where you will find more fun activities to take par in such as Zip Lines, and Alpine Slide, Mountain Biking Trails, hiking Trails and so much more. Staying at Glacier Peaks RV Park really does put you in the perfect spot to get the most out of your Glacier Park and northwest Montana Vacation.
