Are you thinking about going on a trip with your RV? You should consider going to one of America’s beautiful national parks! National Park destinations are perrect for the RV traveler, because they are beautiful, and full of fun activities, interesting wildlife, and rich history! One of my favorite national parks to visit is Glacier National Park in Montana. Read this article to learn more about planning your next trip to a Glacier Park, and the Glacier National Park RV resort options that are available to you in the area.

If you want to see a glacier, do some hiking, witness some really cool wildlife, and enjoy plenty of fresh air, beautiful scenery and great adventure, then you should consider going to a destination in the Rocky Mountains with my personal recommendation being Glacier National Park. There are several parks along the Rockies but the parks located in Montana are the best ones if you want to see some really cool mountains, wildlife and even some glaciers still living from the last ice age. Glacier National Park is an amazing destination, because it offers many attractions that you can not fine in other national park destinations around the country.

There are several options for accommodation in the Glacier Park area. Many campgrounds, hotels, and even a few great RV resorts to choose from. You should do some careful planning of the glacier national park rv resorts in the area before you start your trip. Many of the offerings inside and nearer to the park can be very limiting in what they provide as far as amenities and attractions are concerned. If you need gas for your vehicle, or food for your lunch, you could find yourself having to drive a good distance if you don’t research and plan to stay in the most convenient RV resort ahead of time.

The best side of the park to stay at in my opinion is the west side. There are many more towns located along the western side of the park including Columbia Falls, Kalispell, and Whitefish Montana. I also personally think that the west side is the more beautiful side of the park, and offers a lot more choices for activities and adventure.

Columbia Falls is a great little town located just a short distance from the west gate to Glacier National Park. It is here where you will find several of the RV resorts that are most convenient to both Glacier Park and modern convenience.

A few of the RV resort offering in the area include Columbia Falls RV Resort, Mountain View RV Park and Glacier Peaks RV Resort. In my humble opinion, Glacier Peaks RV Resort is one of the nicest options in the area and here is why.

For one thing, this RV park is laid out in a really nice park-like setting. It offers nice privacy, and lots of shade trees to keep you cool during the warm summer days. It also provides some really beautiful mountain views in between the trees.

Staying at Glacier Peaks RV Resort is a really laid-back experience. The people who run the resort are super friendly and will really go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Glacier Peaks RV Resort also offers a really great location on the outskirts of town, and not far from a junction that allows for quick access to the park as well as Kalispell, Whtiefish and the Whitefish Mountain Resort ski area. You will also be within a mile or less from gas stations, grocery stores, gift shops and more.

Whatever RV resort you choose, you should make sure to call ahead to plan your visit. You want to make sure that the RV resort you are interested in still has plenty of room available for the dates of your vacation and ask if you will have access to electricity or need to bring your own generator.

Visiting a glacier national park RV resort is exciting but you need to make sure your RV is in good shape for this trip. If you live far away from Montana, take your RV to a mechanic to make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip. Have some repairs done if you need to and get the oil changed too. Map your itinerary carefully and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination. If you have a long drive, it is best to spend the night in an RV resort somewhere along the way instead of driving for long hours. Stop regularly to put more gas in your RV, check the pressure in your tires and give everyone a chance to get out of the vehicle.

Don’t forget to plan some fun activities for your vacation. Glacier National Park is a great park for outdoor recreation such as hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, fishing boating and more. You can also fine some other fun activities in the area like scenic helicopter tours, zip lines, alpine slides and more. Be prepared to spend plenty of time outside and get some exercise. Invest in some quality hiking equipment and do not forget to bring some maps. If you are not used to hiking, start with some easy trails.

Also don’t forget to plan a trip to hike into one of the still active glaciers within the park. It is really a special thing to get to see these ancestors of the last Ice Age, and their life span may be limited, and scientists claim that they are melting away at a rather alarming rate, so you should visit them while you have the chance.

You should be able to plan a great trip with your family and your RV thanks to these tips. Do some more research on the area you want to visit before planning your trip. But if you are looking for a really fun adventure and a great base camp to start from, my advice is Glacier National Park and the Glacier Peaks RV Resort!

Most people have never been to Montana, and it’s not one of those famous destinations that millions flock to during vacation times. However, that is one of the reasons that camping near Glacier National Park is such a treasured destination.

There are many campsites available inside the park as well as in the communities near the park. Glacier Park itself encompasses more than one-million acres and it is bordered by two US national forests. You can find a few campsites both inside and outside the park that are free, but most of them are primitive camping and are located in those “off-the-beaten-path” areas. If you want the extra amenities like electric hookups, and bathrooms with running water, you will find that it will cost you a little. Still, Glacier National Park is not an expensive destination, and there’s no better way to enjoy the area than by camping in the great outdoors.

A great camping option that offers both the pleasure of the outdoors and also the convenience of camping close to the stores, restaurants and other conveniences of town, is the Glacier Peaks RV Park in Columbia Falls Montana. This wonderful little RV Resort and campground is located less than a half hour from Glacier National Park which allows you to have quick and easy access to the park but also be close to town for things like groceries, restaurants, entertainment and more.

Flathead National Forest and Lewis and Clark National Forest are the two forests that surround the park. With millions of acres of wilderness area to enjoy throughout the park and the area surrounding it, you will find that no matter how long your vacation is, it is impossible to see and do everything that there is to do in the Glacier National Park area. The park itself boasts more than 700 miles of hiking trails, as well as hundreds of lakes, rivers and streams to enjoy.

Camping In Glacier Park

Glacier Park is the home to many wild and wonderful creatures as well. If you are tent camping in or near the park, you will want to make sure that you clean up thoroughly before leaving your camp for the day or before going to sleep at night, as many of your “wild neighbors” will not pass up the opportunity for a free lunch or dinner if they see the opportunity. There is a healthy population of both black bears and grizzly bears inside Glacier Park, and they do wonder into camp on a regular basis. Of course there are park rangers on duty to help you if any emergencies arise, but it is still best to use common sense when you are in bear country and keep a clean campsite.

You also want to be sure you stay on top of the weather conditions when camping in Glacier Park. The weather in this very mountainous region can change on a whim. And temperatures can vary widely from day to night. Make sure to bring extra blankets along on your trip, especially if you will be camping outside.

Activities in Glacier National Park

You better pack the fly rod, and the rest of your gear and tackle along on your trip. Glacier National Park and the surrounding area is a fisherman’s paradise. The streams both inside and near the park are superb for fly-fishing. And many of the lakes in the area offer some of the best lake trout fishing that you will find anywhere! Including the world-renown Flathead Lake!

There are many other pastimes and activities throughout the area that you are sure to enjoy as well. You can go hiking through the wilderness, visit Logan’s Pass, go for a scenic boat ride, horseback tour, whitewater rafting or even a scenic helicopter tour! And lets not forget about Glacier’s historic Red Bus tours! These iconic Red Buses have been serving the Glacier Park visitor for many decades now and to tour this majestic park in a Red Bus is an experience that you will never forget!

Camping near Glacier National Park is not like any other camping experience you’ve had the pleasure of enjoying in the past. You need to be sure that you give yourself some time to enjoy it all. You will feel relaxed, out of the hustle and bustle, and can you imagine what a Montana sunset will look like as it sets behind the rugged peaks of Glacier National Park painting the surface water of Saint Mary Lake a crimson red? The sight is too beautiful for words!

Take the tips you’ve read in this article to help you make a decision about your Glacier National Park camping experience. You are going to have the time of your life, and you’re going to want to return again and again.

Summertime is approaching. Have you made your vacation plans yet? Millions of people every year from across America and around the world choose to make a Glacier National Park in northwest Montana the destination for their family vacation.

Have you ever considered Glacier National Park for your family vacation? If you haven’t, maybe it’s about time you set your sights on this beautiful corner of the country which has become known as the crown of the continent.

Why consider Glacier National Park for your vacation this year? Well for starters, if more than 2 million people choose to make this national park their vacation destination every year, there must be something to it right?

Glacier National Park encompasses more than 1,000,000 acres of wilderness area in northwest Montana just below the Canadian border. This park is serene and beautiful and offers one of the last truly spectacular opportunities in the United States to find vast stretches of wild, pristine nature, virtually untouched by man.

The wildlife is abundant in Glacier National Park. The scenery is breathtaking. Outdoor adventure abounds. And Glacier National Park is one of the few places left in the United States which has received the title of being a “dark sky ecosystem.” Which means that this area is still relatively free of light pollution, allowing you to witness a dazzling array of stars and other heavenly bodies in Montana’s big night sky.

Room To Stretch Your Legs And Avoid The Crowds

The great majority of the 2,000,000+ visitors that visit Glacier National Park every year stick primarily to the tourist hubs at the eastern and western gateways of the park. As well as driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road which connects the town of West Glacier on the western end of the park, to the community of St. Mary on the eastern side of the park. The Going-to-the-Sun Road truly is one of the most remarkable stretches of highway in the United States if not the world. And the communities located at the eastern and western gates of the park are truly fascinating as well. Yet there is so much more to Glacier National Park than the average tourist will ever see.

The Glaciers of Glacier National Park

Hidden behind the majestic peaks of many of Glacier National Park’s rugged mountains linger remnant’s of the Ice Age which is responsible for building this beautiful national Park. Even today, centuries after the official end of the Ice Age that carved of the peaks and valleys of Glacier National Park, you will find lingering relics of these great rivers and lakes of ice. Many of the glaciers which remain in the park are located in the aptly named “Many Glacier” area of the park. The change in weather patterns in recent years is causing many of these glaciers to melt quicker than the snows of winter can replenish and maintain them, and scientists predict that the remaining glaciers will probably shrink down to miniscule size, and could disappear completely by the mid-21st century. It would be a travesty not to be able to witness firsthand these beautiful glaciers which are such a part of the park’s history before they are gone.

The Lakes and Rivers of Glacier National Park

Another byproduct of the beautiful glaciers which cling to the shaded walls of Glacier Park’s rugged mountain peaks are the stunning glacier-fed rivers, tarns and alpine lakes which can be found throughout the park.

Glacier-fed lakes are not like typical lakes. They are bright blue in color, almost turquoise or aquamarine. This beautiful color comes from the ‘glacier flour’ which flows down from the melting glaciers high above on the mountain walls. This glacier flour is a mix of sediment created by the slow-moving glaciers which even today are slowly carving away at the mountain walls.

Many of Glacier National Park’s lakes and streams are teeming with native trout, a sportsman’s nirvana! You will not even need a fishing license to fish within the park. Although make sure that you do talk to a Ranger or consult a fishing guide which covers the park, because not all of the lakes and waterways inside the park are open to fishing, and those that are, do have special regulations regarding what type of fish can be kept and what has to be released.

Wilderness Trails and Wildlife Inside Glacier National Park

Glacier Park Mountain Goats

You will find more than 700 miles of hiking trails within Glacier National Park. These trails range in length and difficulty from mild blacktop covered trails and boardwalks to almost perfectly vertical goat trails and alpine traverses which are covered in snow 10 months out of the year. These trails will take you to some of the most breathtaking scenic back-country you will ever see. And the park is rich with a diverse ecosystem of birds, fish and other types of wildlife. The park is known for its generous population of both grizzly bears and black bears, along with mountain goats, Moose, dear, elk, mountain lions and various other critters like the cuddly hoary marmot.

Glacier National Park is truly an amazing destination. One that should be included on everyone’s to-do list at least once before they die. And the sooner the better. It just wouldn’t make sense to put off visiting this amazing national park until after it’s glaciers have disappeared when you have the opportunity to still witness their majesty and beauty today.

Make plans to visit Glacier National Park this year, and make plans to stay at the Glacier Peaks RV Park when you come. Glacier Peaks RV Park is an RV park and campground located not far from the western gateway to Glacier National Park in the town of Columbia Falls Montana. Staying at Glacier Peaks RV Park provides you the perfect opportunity to enjoy the park as well as the many other activities and attractions that can be found in the Flathead Valley of northwest Montana including the Whitefish Mountain resort, Flathead Lake, the many golf courses throughout the Valley and so much more.

Camping is one of the most enjoyable things to do with your family and friends. Everyone should give this exciting experience a try when they can. Successful camping in Glacier National Park takes a lot of preparation and research. Continue on and read through this article so you’ll know how to get prepared for your Glacier Park camping & RV excursion.

Some things to remember for your camping trip to Glacier Park…

If you are planing to do some RV camping in a well-equipped and maintained RV Park like Glacier Peaks RV Park in Columbia Falls, then you need not worry about missing out on any of the creature comforts like running water, warm showers, and other facilities. These are all provided to you inside the RV Park, but if your camping plans will have you roughing it in one of Glacier Parks more primitive in park campsites, or back-country campgrounds, then you should remember to take along some water purification tablets with you. These tablets are great in case you ever run out of water, so you can transform water from a nearby stream or spring into potable drinking water. Try the tablets at home first so you know how they will taste. You do not want to dehydrate yourself on your trip because you aren’t used to the taste.

Prep the kids to avoid the Dangers of Glacier Park

If you will be taking the kids or grand-kids along on this camping adventure, you should talk to them about the dangers of camping before embarking on your trip. It is simple to check out the Internet for photos of dangerous plants like poison ivy so they will know to avoid such dangers on your trip. Also remember that you are headed to Grizzly country, and there are other wild creatures in and around Glacier Park as well that are not afraid to come scavenging for food during the night. Make sure your children or grandchildren don’t wander too far away from camp, especially after dark. While it is not extremely common for bears and other wild creatures to wander into your camp in Glacier Park, it has been known to happen, and it is best to prepare your children companions of the risks ahead of time.

Don’t forget the extra conveniences…

One of the reasons that people choose to camp in a park like Glacier Peaks camping and RV park is for the convenience that it provides. The public bathrooms and showers can be a very welcome amenity in the middle of the night, or on a frosty Montana morning. However if you do choose not to stay in a campsite where these extra conveniences are taken care of for you, then let this act as a reminder to not to forget to pack some extra toilet paper, moist towelettes, and other possible amenities like a sun-warmed shower bag. If your campsite lacks toilet facilities, you might be going in to the woods to do your business, and it is best not to use something from nature to clean yourself. Remember, some plants can be poisonous, and they don’t make good tissue paper. Stay on the safe side and take some toilet paper.

Get to your campsite or RV space early…

Try to ensure your camp is set up by nightfall both for your own safety and out of respect for your fellow camping neighbors. When traveling in an RV, be safely parked before dark. When forming your tent, locate dry and flat ground. Doing this before night comes around will save you hassle and frustration.

Let there be light…

Pack extra flashlights and plenty of batteries when you are packing for your trip. There are times when it is important to be able to see clearly after the sun goes down. Having enough light up an area can prevent nasty falls or unwanted encounters with local wildlife. When camping with children, it is smart to let them each have their own flashlight.

As I mentioned at the start…it can be a great deal of fun to go camping or RV camping in Glacier Park, but knowledge is required for it to be successful. Be sure to use these tips before your next trip. Keeping the tips that you read here in mind will make for a more pleasant trip To Glacier National Park!

When some people think of camping in Glacier National Park, they think of roughing it like they do on the popular survival shows. This typically isn’t a correct assumption about today’s camping experience. Today you can easily enjoy your trip to Glacier Park and still avoid the bugs and dirt if you take time to create a proper plan. If you want to learn easy ways to enjoy camping, you should read the tips below.

Know Where You Are Going When Your Going To Montana

Learn how to use a compass or read a map, beforehand. Even if you are familiar with your intended Glacier National Park campsite, you could still get lost because many areas look the same. Avoid problems by learning to use useful items such as a compass, GPS, atlas, or a map service from Google or Bing. These tools can save you a lot of time and frustration, they could even save your life.

Plan Well To Pack Well For A Glacier Park Adventure

Ensure that you pack everything that you will need before leaving for your camping trip to Glacier Park. It would be horrible to forget something important like the tent or camp mat. In order to ensure that this does not happen, make a checklist before you head out and cross off the items as you pack them.

Plan for every situation that you can think of before packing for your trip. Anything can happen while camping in Glacier so it is crucial to be prepared. Injuries, illnesses and the weather can change suddenly. You must always exercise great care, avoid risk and consider your actions always.

Take Necessary Precautions To Stay ‘Food-Safe’ When Camping in Bear Country

Remember food safety when you go camping. Make sure your food stays dry and safe by using airtight bags and waterproof containers. Keep your food inside insulated coolers. Avoid cross-contamination by keeping cooked and raw foods far apart. Use a cleaner or sanitizer to keep hands and surfaces clean, just as you would at home. Thoroughly cook foods and store them right away.

Also, remember that you are in bear country when you are camping in northwest Montana, You should never leave food containers unattended outside. Stow all food items away in a food-safe container and if you are tent camping it might be a good idea to elevate your food off the ground out of the reach of animals using a rope and pulley.

Make Sure Your Pets Are Glacier-Park-Ready Too

If Fido is coming with your on your Glacier Park camping trip, don’t forget his leash. Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times while inside the park. Also remember that dogs are not allowed on any of the hiking trails within the park. Some people are afraid of dogs. You should be respectful of other campers while at your camp site. Also, because it is a new territory, dogs can get into trouble and cause damage to the site if not supervised. Make sure you familiarize yourself with all of the pet policies of the campsites that you will be staying at, and be sure to abide by their rules.

Don’t Forget The Little Things

Make sure to carry a utility knife with you when you are camping. These types of knives are the key to success when you need tools at a campsite. Carry an extra one in your bags in the event that your main one gets lost.

Did you know that dryer lint is a very useful addition to your camping supply list? It might be a little weird sounding, but it’s a great and cheap way to start up a campfire. The lint makes bright flames, even brighter than with twigs or wood chips. You just need to use some lint with a spark, and you can enjoy a nice, warm fire.

There isn’t much in this world that can be as satisfying as a good camping trip to Glacier National Park. Seeing the wonders of Glacier National Park, (The Crown of The Continent) and experiencing nature up close is an awesome experience indeed. If you are interested in camping, read on for some tips and advice that will make your camping trip to Glacier Park even better.

Camping With Pets at Glacier Park

Don’t want to leave your four legged friend behind when you take your Glacier Park vacation this year? Well good news…you don’t have to! However, there are a few things that you will want to keep in mind if you are bringing your furry friend along for the trip, which will help to make the experience better for you and them. For one thing, you will want to protect your canine companion on the trip by keeping him leashed and under careful supervision. Remember there are wild animals in and around the park that could harm your little companion if he were to wander away from camp unattended.

Another thing to keep in mind is that other campers might be fearful of your dog, no matter how friendly he might be. You must consider them when you are camping, as well. You do not want Fido to ruin anyone’s campsite due to lack of supervision.

Setting Up Camp At Glacier Park: Settle In Before the Sun Goes Down

Before the sun goes down, make sure that you have your camp completely set up. If you driving an RV, you should locate a safe parking spot. If you have a tent, carefully select the plot of land you are going to use. Knowing the area around your campsite before it gets dark adds to your camping safety. You will be able to see a lot better, and this will make everything easier. There are several options for both tent-camping and RV-camping inside and around Glacier National Park. Many people choose to stay at one of the camping sites just outside the park such as Glacier Peaks RV Park and Campground in Columbia Falls (the gateway to Glacier Park) because it provides easy access to the park as well as the convenience of having more stores, restaurants and activity options to choose from.

Wherever you choose to pitch your tent or park your rig, it is both a common courtesy to your fellow campers, and a good safety precaution to get your camp set up and settled-in before the sun sets. Not only will you neighboring campers appreciate this, but it will save you from a lot of headaches and potential problems as well.

If you can avoid it, it is best not set up your camp near a bathroom. Although many people might think this is an advantage, providing easy access during the night, they soon discover otherwise. Areas near the bathrooms are usually very busy areas of any camping area, with lots of light, noise, and busy foot traffic which can make it very difficult to get a good nights sleep. Therefore, they end up not having the convenience and comfort that you would at first expect.

Be Sure To Plan Ahead and Pack Well

Pack additional clothes when camping at Glacier National Park. Camping is messy. Kids love getting into dirt. As a result, they are going to be seriously messy by the end of each day. Take extra clothing with you for your children. The key is being prepared.

It’s always smart to bring easy and nutritious snacks like beef jerky and trail mix when you decide to take a camping trip. After a busy day of hiking the trails in Glacier or other strenuous outdoor activities, you may be too tired to deal with campsite cooking. These snacks are healthy and nutrient-dense, making them a quick and easy source of nourishment. Plus they will stay fresh for long periods of time, so they won’t go to waste.

Don’t forget to pack the Duct tape! Duct tape can be used to solve many problems on camping trips. It can fix so many different things, holes, leaks and just about anything else that arises. Tape can be used to seal holes in your sleeping mattress. It can seal a rip in your tent, sleeping bag, or tarp. You can also protect your feet against blisters while hiking long distances by putting duct tape on them. This can also be used for injuries when you do not have a regular doctor around. Also, Duct tape ca fit in some very small places in your suitcase, so why not pack it along?

Use a shower curtain as a tarp to put underneath your tent. You can use it for a variety of other purposes as well. A shower curtain can make a great table cloth to cover that nasty picnic table…it can be a rain shield when it starts to drizzle…it can be used as a divider in your tent if you want a little more privacy…the uses are many, and it packs up small, you will barely even notice that it is included with your other camping supplies. Instead of getting rid of an old shower curtain, use it for your next camping trip.

Take water purification tablets with you. Even if you pack what should be enough water or plan on boiling water you collect, you might run out of time or need more than you think. Give the tablets a try at home so you know how the water tastes when it’s purified with them. This will help you circumvent dehydration due to the fact that you dislike the water’s taste.

Simply adhering to the ideas presented within this article can pave the way to camping success. These suggestions will help make your planning easier and more productive. It is a great idea to always look for any information that can enhance your experience.

Hopping into an RV and venturing into a Glacier Park vacation allows you to do a number of things. If you’ve never been to Glacier National Park in northwest Montana, you’ll be amazed at the beauty and grandeur that awaits you in this part of the country. And there is no better way to experience the Glacier National Park area than by traveling and staying in an RV. Some of the benefits of traveling by RV on a Glacier Park vacation include:

Convenience. With a Glacier National Park RV camping experience, you can do everything you can do when you’re at home, allowing you to enjoy conveniences that camping at Glacier National Park normally would not give you. But the good thing here is that while you have conveniences to enjoy, you still get to stay right smack in the middle of the great outdoors so you don’t miss out on the rich experience that camping has to offer. The main difference here is you just don’t have to sleep in the woods and do your business with leaves. If people knew they didn’t have to feel like a caveman when they go on a vacation to Glacier National Park, more people would probably be headed to the park.

Accommodation options. When you visit Glacier National Park in an RV, you essentially have a place to sleep wherever you go. However, should you not feel like staying in your mobile home for the night, RV parking services like the Glacier Peaks RV park offer other accommodation options for you to consider. Whether you’re staying for the weekend or a couple of months, accommodation options are opened to you so you can choose whatever you are interested at the moment. Knowing you have options can also ultimately lead to a better time at Glacier National Park.

Mobility. You are basically free to head anywhere you want to go on a Glacier National Park RV trip. You pretty much have the capabilities to be mobile so whether you want to start with a certain trail or head to the city for a while, you can do that when you RV to Glacier National Park.

Savings. You stand to save on costs when you stay at a Glacier National Park RV park because you already have everything you need. You just need to pay for the space where your RV will be staying. You don’t have to pay additionally for food or accommodation, allowing you to stick to your budget and save on costs while you’re on vacation at the Glacier National Park. Some parking services will even allow you to use facilities for free as part of your stay.

If you have not yet considered a vacation to Glacier National Park in an RV, I hope this article has enlightened you to some of the many benefits that this sort of traveling experience provides. Glacier National Park is open 365 days a year. And Glacier Peaks RV Park in Columbia Falls, Montana (the Gateway to Glacier National Park) is always ready to welcome you in and provide you a place to park your RV so that you can enjoy all that the region has to offer. For more details visit: http://www.glacierpeaksrvpark.com

Are you looking for tips to make your Glacier National Park vacation less stressful and more productive this year? You have come to the right place. We can help you travel more effectively. If you will read and follow our tried and true tips, you will have a more successful, less stressed-out trip.

Stay Connected

For a stress-free vacation, make sure people can get in touch with you. Take your cell phone with you and keep it charged. Although cell coverage is not very good inside the park, you should have a strong signal at any of the comunities and campgrounds outside the park. Bring your laptop with you if you know you will have an internet connection where you are staying. Many of the hotels and campgrounds near Glacier National Park offer free wifi connections to the Internet. In case of emergency, people can let you know what is going on and you won’t have any bad surprises when you come back.

Book Accommodations in Advance

Plan and book hotels and campground reservations in advance. Some hotels provide packages including meals and activities based on your destination. You might like this, or you might like to plan your own thing completely. Another thing to consider is the type of accommodation that you want. For instance, if you’re a light sleeper, do not book a room right next to an elevator or noisy lobby area of a hotel, and if your staying in a campground, request one of the sites furthest away from any highway’s or busy roads. Ask questions, and make the right arrangements for you needs.

Traveling By RV Can Be Quite A Rewarding Experience

If you have the time, travel by car or RV instead of flying. Driving through the states is a wonderful way to see the country. You will pass by quaint towns and attractions that are often overlooked by tourists. Traveling by car or RV offers you more flexibility in case you need to change your itinerary at the last minute. Plus there are some vary nice Glacier National Park RV resorts in and around the park including Glacier Peaks RV Park in Columbia Falls, Montana which provides a full-service RV camping experience with extra amenities like WiFi, laundry service and more.

Be Well Adapted To Glacier National Parks Erratic Weather

Pack lightly when traveling, but also make sure that you are dressing for the weather and the activities you plan on doing. That way, you don’t sweat too much when rock climbing, or freeze in a museum. Wear adaptable clothes when visiting northwestern Montana, look up the weather in advance and plan accordingly, but also prepare for surprises. Remember that you might not be used to extreme heat or cold if you live in a place with a mild climate. But the weather can change drastically throughout the day in Glacier National Park and at various elevations. Bring multiple varieties of clothes with you and do not hesitate to buy new clothes in local stores to meet your requirements.

Plan Out A Budget Ahead of Time

Plan your budget before your trip. There’s nothing worse than being away from home and realizing you don’t have enough money to do all of the fun things on your list. Plan so much per day for food, entertainment, souvenirs, and cab/bus fare if needed. The great thing about a Glacier National Park vacation is that there is so much to do and see in the area that will not cost you a dime. You can really have a highly enjoyable and exciting vacation without spending much money. However there are some things that you will want to budget for on your vacation to Glacier National Park. Meals, recreational adventures like whitewater rafting and horseback riding, etc. Make up a set spending limit for each day of your vacation, and make sure to stick to that amount each day.

Glacier National Park in Montana encompasses a large portion of the Rocky Mountain region of northwest Montana and even crosses the border into Canada to form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.

The land that makes up Glacier National Park is both wild and majestic. More than 75% of it remains pristine wilderness area untouched by any man-made development of the modern world. In fact there is only one road that transects the park, the Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 50+ mile stretch of highway that starts in the town of West Glacier, straddles the Continental divide, and exits the park at the town of St. Mary along the eastern side of the park.

Despite its purposefully limited infrastructure, Glacier National Park receives more than 3 million visitors a year. These visitors come in droves to the park each year to experience Glacier’s incomparable natural beauty, remarkable and abundant wildlife, and rich history.

The incomparable beauty of Glacier National Park

I have had the privilege of visiting several of America’s national parks in my lifetime, and I can say without hesitation that Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in the United States. Glacier National Park is a land full of wonder, magic, and rugged Rocky Mountain majesty. The unique beauty of this area has garnered several nicknames for the park, including “the crown of the continent,” and “America’s Little Switzerland.” In fact the latter was a name given to the park by the Great Northern Railway in the early 1900s, as a way to help promote the park as a prime vacation destination for families and individuals across the United States to come visit and enjoy. Many of the lodges throughout the park were built by the Great Northern Railroad and carry a Swiss-Chalet theme to coincide with the “Little Switzerland” promotional efforts.

Glaciers remarkable wildlife

Glacier National Park is home to an abundant variety of unique and diverse wildlife. Some of the wildlife that you will find within the park would be difficult or impossible to find anywhere else in the lower 48. Some of the species of wildlife Glacier National Park is especially known for, includes the North American grizzly bear, the majestic mountain goat, Moose, Big Horn Rams, and other unique characters like the hoary marmot. Of course there are many other species that live in the park as well like elk, white tailed deer, various ground squirrels, brown bears and black bears and many more. There are also hundreds of varieties of birds that make their home throughout the park with some especially noteworthy species such as the bald eagle and ospreys.

Glacier National Park’s rich history

According to archaeological records Native Americans began inhabiting the park as many as 10,000 years ago. The Blackfeet people moved into the area around the start of 18th century and very quickly dominated the eastern slopes of what is now a Glacier National Park, as well as the Great Plains that follow to the east. In 1806 the Lewis and Clark expedition came within 50 miles of the park during their exploration of the Marias River. Many more explorers ventured into the area in the late 1800s and in 1885 a man by the name of George Bird Grinnell, hired an explorer to guide him into the mountains and valleys which are now part of Glacier Park, as part of a hunting expedition. Mr. Grinnell was so inspired by the beauty of the area that he spent the next two decades lobbying to establish the area as a national park. In the year 1910 his efforts came to fruition and Glacier National Park was established as America’s 10th national Park. Over the next several decades the great Northern Railroad began building their Swiss-style chalets near the gateways of the park and they began promoting Glacier National Park is America’s Little Switzerland. The Going-to-the-Sun Road was completed in the late 1930′s and further boosted vacation travel into the park. Glacier National Park is steeped in native American and early settler and pioneer history as well as a great deal of early American railroad history. Many of the hotels and chalets in and around the park are national historic landmarks and are very unique in style and beauty.

A vacation to Glacier National Park is an unforgettable experience that will treat you to a beautiful side of America’s past and present that many people don’t even know exists. The good thing about a Glacier National Park vacation is that there are a number of activities you can do in the area so there’s sure to be something that will interest the whole family, from hiking and fishing down to sailing and skiing. If you’re headed out with the entire family, or even by yourself or with a couple of friends, why not consider staying a while in one of the campgrounds near Glacier National Park. If you have an RV, you can also check out Glacier Peaks RV Park the Glacier National Park RV park located about 30 minutes away from the parks gateway.

What to expect when camping near Glacier National Park

Staying at a Glacier National Park RV park puts you right in the middle of enjoying the great outdoors such that you don’t even have to actually be at the national park in order to take in what Mother Nature has to offer. You just have to step out our front door to enjoy all the abundance and beauty of Montana’s nature. An RV park vacation brings together the best of both worlds, you can enjoy the comfort and convenience of home amenities like a shower, kitchen and a bed and sofa so you don’t end up feeling like a caveman, but you’ll also enjoy the freedom and fun of “camping” and indulging in Montana’s rustic outdoors. It depends on the Glacier National Park RV park you go to but some of the amenities that may be available include: RV stores for accessories, pull-through sites, full hook-ups, car rentals, phone service, laundry rooms, shower rooms and bathrooms, wireless internet access, convenience store, and mail service. Some of the RV parks around also boast of being near the city so even if you’re on a vacation in an RV park you can still enjoy a lot of the conveniences of city living.

What to consider

First of all, make sure that the Glacier National Park RV park you’re interested in can actually accommodate your RV by checking how big the parking spaces are. Take into consideration as well of course what you can enjoy while you’re in the area, whether within the Glacier National Park RV park or the surrounding areas. If you don’t have anything to do in the area, then why would you go there, right? While you will be essentially staying inside your RV you will still be checking into an establishment where other people are camping and trying to enjoy their vacations as well, so be considerate and abide by the rules. For instance, don’t check in too late. This is suggested for both the security and comfort of all guests. Some RV parks are also particular about RVs they admit so make sure that your vehicle meets CFRVP codes or at least the RV park’s standards. There will also be areas in a Glacier National Park RV park that will be off-limits so do ask where you can and cannot park your RV.
